Description
Harley's art estate viewing opportunities
This collection is comprised of original pieces by the artist Harley (Harley
Forrest Francis, II), professional fine artist for six decades, his final 30 in
the Bay Area. I'm be opening storage for viewing and sales: be sure to let me
know if you'd like to set up an appointment to see hundreds of the beautiful
works Harley left behind!

World Collage Day, May 14th, 2022: Hundreds of his vibrant and beautiful collages
are available for purchase. In observance of World Collage Day, I am offering
them all month at a discount: $150, plus $10 shipping. If you're unable to come
see the selection in Forestville, follow the link below to browse the catalog:

Because he abhorred the mechanics and politics of the art world’s gallery/dealer
system, Harley's art was never achieved broad recognition, though his extensive
participation in the mail art movement made him known internationally. He
survived through skillfully cultivating and maintaining a far-flung community of
friends and acquaintances who would be invited to the house for dinner or a
birthday party and who might leave with a painting or set of drawings that had
begun to speak to them, perhaps forcefully or, as Harley loved to say, sotto
voce.

“My work is… a celebration of the beauty, the mystery and the exciting questions
of life.”

It is very important to me that his artistic legacy is preserved in a meaningful
way. Harley was an extremely prolific artist, and he left behind a collection of
over two thousand works in various media.

Also I'm selling Harley's iconic oak roll top desk from which many an artistamp
was issued and many a personal letter penned! He purchased it almost 60 years ago
from Oberlin College and began every day seated at this beautiful desk, with
coffee and cigar, to go through his correspondence and paperwork. This piece is
very large and far more elegant than most oak roll tops of the period. If you or
anyone you know would be interested in this beautiful piece of Harley's history,
do let me know so that a viewing can be arranged. (pictures will be posted soon!)

Harley’s son Tristan Francis is still searching for an art dealer/gallerist who
not only recognizes the value of Harley's work but also has meaningful
connections to a variety of players in the art world. My fondest wish is to
inspire an active player in the art world to 'Discover Harley!' Referrals are
most welcome.

Thank you for taking the time to read this. I will be happy to answer any
questions you might have about the collection.
